Incline Education Fund (IEF) works to provide both support and enrichment programs at Incline schools. We are funding a pilot program for in-school math support for students that are not at grade-level at both the elementary and middle school level. (Nationwide, the COVID pandemic has left many students behind in academic performance. Math skills and testing, in particular, have suffered).
This successful math support pilot program has helped students get back on track and is opening doors for students that didn’t think that they could “do math”. We are currently serving a small group of students across two grade levels, but would like to serve the entire population of K-8 students.
We are also supporting a number of reading programs at the elementary school to help cement reading comprehension skills. Currently, there are before-, during- and after-school programs for both students and adults.
Additionally, IEF is also working to bring in both math and reading enrichment programs. There is a MathCounts “club” at the middle school and we have brought in 2 nationally recognized children’s authors (Jarrett Lerner and Suzanne Williams) and an artist (Jen Stark) to present their work to our students. Working with the Nevada Arts Council, Ms. Williams was able to provide a “writing workshop series for the fourth and fifth graders.
IEF will add additional support/enrichment as funding becomes available.
