Program Partner: Incline High School Boosters

Incline Education Fund (IEF) launched a pilot program, in the fall of 2023, to bring ongoing college and career counseling services to Incline High School. This onsite program offers professional college counseling services through EdPlanIt’s founder, Leslie Hermann.

This program is provided to ensure that experienced college and career advisory support is available to EVERY IHS senior in the fall and winter semesters each year and to underclassmen in the spring.  Students meet in both one-on-one and small group sessions to discuss their post-secondary plans, where they are expected to discuss their future career and/or college pathway. If a student is career-bound, they will meet with an advisor to discuss specific career paths and job search techniques, if they are college-bound, they will meet with a licensed college counselor to learn how to:

  • navigate the school search and selection process and “college-fit”
  • fill out the FAFSA financial aid forms and how to look for scholarship opportunities
  • complete college applications – including individual support for personal essay writing
  • interview with college admissions advisors

Each summer, rising IHS seniors are invited to participate in EdPlanIt’s “College Bootcamp” where they can get a head start on the college application process. As a culminating event, Bootcamp participants have an opportunity to interact with a number of college admissions advisors to get input on their essay(s) and obtain first-hand information on specific schools. This Bootcamp is partially funded by the Dave & Cheryl Duffield Foundation and supported by the Incline Education Fund.
